VH1 New Show “Bye Felicia” Set to Premier Dec. 9th

VH1 released a trailer on Monday for the upcoming show Bye Felicia, a show People reports will premiere in early December. The show’s premise centers around two Atlanta-based life coaches, Deborah Hawkes and Missy Young, who will attempt to give young women in Los Angeles tough love and tips to turn their lives around.

“Bye Felicia,”a term coined by black people, has become Internet-famous as a way of dismissing a situation or someone from your life, showing them they hold no relevance to you. The phrase stems from a scene in the 1995 classic Friday, where Ice Cube’s character Craig tells local crackhead Felisha, “Bye Felisha.”

“Deborah & Missy … are two of the funniest women I have ever met. We are so excited to introduce them to America,” Susan Levison, VH1′s Executive Vice President of Original Programming and Production, said in a statement.

Here’s Vh1’s description of the show:

White women of LA are getting a serious confidence boost and a little dose of reality with the series premiere of “Bye Felicia!,” premiering Tuesday, December 9 at 9PM. This 8-episode, hour long series follows Atlanta-based life coaches Deborah Hawkes and Missy Young as they set out to help white girls across the Los Angeles area. Each closed-ended episode aims to empower two different women who could use a dose of honesty in order to turn their lives around.

Are you going to be tuning in? And if so will it be a hit or will you leave saying “BYE FELICIA”?!
