“People keep asking me if I’m back…I’m thinking I’m back,” says Keanu Reeves in the newly released revenge drama action film, John Wick.
Reeves play a stylish expert assassin who works for Russian mob boss Viggo Tarasov (Michael Nyqvist) who describes Wick as “the one you send to kill the boogeyman.” Wick (Keanu Reeves) falls in love with Helen (Bridget Moynahan) and leaves the killing business to love and inevitably aid Helen through her last days of battle with cancer. Her last gift to Wick is a beagle named Daisy to accompany Wick through his time of bereavement. Days after Helen’s funeral, Wick is forced out of retirement when Viggo’s son Iosef (Alfie Allen) brings a group of his mobsters to Wick’s house, beat him up, steal his car and kills Daisy. Unbeknownst to Iosef, his days are numbered. As a result, Wick begins his road to revenge, overcoming a series of henchmen coercing Wick back into a lifestyle enclosed of old comrades, affiliates, and foes until he comes face-to-face with the father-and-son Tarasov’s.

To say Reeves is back in action is an understatement. At age 50 — 20 years after his role as Jack Traven in Speed and over 10 years since he played Neo in the Matrix trilogy —he still manages to capture the ferocious essence of a take no prisoners mad man while simultaneously maintaining his serene countenance.
For those who yearn for an unapologetic, no hold barrels, kick-butt, rousing action thriller, look no further. John Wick got you covered.
